I wanted to take a few posts to look at the thought of Donald MacCrimmon MacKay. He was a professor of Communications and Brain Science at the University of Keel. He was also a Christian theologian of sorts. He published widely on determinism in philosophy, and also wrote books on the philosophy/theology of science.
I knew nothing of MacKay until I read a quote from him in Paul Helm’s book “The Providence of God” in the IVP Contours of Theology Series.
Over a series of posts I would like to look at his philosophy of science, his reconciling a mechanistic view of the human person with theology, and finally his interesting solution to reconciling Christian Theology with the apparent antiquity of the world.
